Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a standard loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together sugar, eggs, sour cream, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and oil until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined. Set aside.
- For the cream cheese swirl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar in a small bowl until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, then spoon half of the cream cheese mixture on top. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Add the remaining batter, followed by the rest of the cream cheese mixture. Swirl again to create a marbled effect.
- Bake for 65-70 minutes, covering with foil for the last 20-30 minutes to prevent excessive browning.
- Let the bread cool completely before slicing to allow the cream cheese swirl to set.
