Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta: an easy no-bake dessert

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gelatin:
    • Place the gelatin sheets in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Melt the Chocolate:
    • Break the chocolate into small pieces and place them in a heatproof bowl.
    • Heat the bowl in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time until the chocolate is completely melted. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler.
  3. Combine Cream and Milk:
    • In a bowl, mix together the cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Add the Gelatin:
    • Remove the gelatin sheets from the water and squeeze out the excess moisture. Place the gelatin in a small heatproof bowl and heat in the microwave for a few seconds until fully dissolved.
    • Pour the melted gelatin into the cream and milk mixture and stir well until fully incorporated.
  5. Incorporate the Chocolate:
    • Add the melted chocolate to the cream and milk mixture and stir until well combined and smooth.
  6. Pour into Molds:
    • Divide the mixture evenly among small ramekins or jars.
    • Cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, until the panna cotta is set.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the panna cotta from the refrigerator, take off the plastic wrap, and gently invert it onto dessert plates or serve directly in the jars.
    • You can garnish the panna cotta with fresh berries, grated chocolate, or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired.
