Ingredients:
- 200 g ladyfingers: These are light, sponge-like biscuits that will form the base of your dessert.
- 1 liter milk (4 cups): This will be the liquid component of your mixture.
- 40 g sugar (2 tablespoons): Adds sweetness to the dessert.
- 50 g cornstarch (3 tablespoons): Helps thicken the mixture to create a creamy consistency.
- 100 g cream pudding mix (3.5 oz): This adds extra creaminess and flavor.
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder: Provides a rich chocolate flavor.
- 2 tablespoons coffee: Enhances the chocolate flavor and adds a slight coffee taste.
- 50 g dark chocolate: Melts into the mixture for a deeper chocolate flavor.
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mixture:
- In a large bowl, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, cream pudding mix, cocoa powder, and coffee. Whisk them together until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
- Cook the Mixture:
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and place it over low heat. Stir the mixture constantly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan or forming lumps.
- Continue cooking until the mixture starts to thicken. This means the cornstarch and pudding mix are activating and the mixture is reaching the desired consistency.
- Add the Chocolate:
- Once the mixture begins to thicken, add the dark chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and incorporated into the mixture. This will make the mixture richer and more chocolatey.
- Prepare the Ladyfingers:
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into milk. This step is brief to ensure the ladyfingers are just slightly soaked but not too soggy.
- Arrange the dipped ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a baking dish.
- Assemble the Cake:
- Pour the chocolate mixture over the ladyfingers in the baking dish. Make sure the ladyfingers are well covered by the mixture.
- Chill:
- Place the dish in the refrigerator and allow it to chill for at least 2 hours. This chilling time helps the flavors meld together and allows the dessert to set properly.
- Finish and Serve:
- Before serving, sprinkle the top of the dessert with unsweetened cocoa powder. This adds a nice finishing touch and enhances the chocolate flavor.
