Passion Fruit Ice Cream

Passion fruit ice cream is a delightful tropical treat, known for its tangy-sweet and refreshing flavor. Made with passion fruit pulp, this ice cream offers a unique experience combining sweetness and citrus, perfect for those who enjoy exotic flavors. It’s a popular choice in warm climates and a delicious way to enjoy passion fruit.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe passion fruits
  • 1 can (400 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream (whipped cream)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)

Before making passion fruit ice cream, ensure you have fresh passion fruits ready and remember that you’ll need sugar and an ice cream maker or freezer to achieve the right texture.

Preparation:

  1. Extract the Passion Fruit Pulp:
    • Cut the passion fruits in half and scoop out the pulp with a spoon. Place the pulp in a strainer to separate the seeds and collect the passion fruit juice. Use the back of a spoon to press and extract as much juice as possible.
  2. Mix Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, combine the passion fruit juice with the sweetened condensed milk. Taste the mixture and, if desired, add sugar to sweeten according to your preference.
  3. Whip the Cream:
    • In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until it thickens and forms soft peaks. You can do this with an electric mixer or by hand with a whisk.
  4. Combine Mixtures:
    • If using, add the vanilla extract to the whipped cream and mix well. Gently fold the whipped cream into the passion fruit and condensed milk mixture, using a light and folding motion to ensure the mixture is well combined.
  5. Freeze:
    • Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and cover it with plastic wrap or an airtight lid. Place the container in the freezer and let it freeze for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream is firm.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the passion fruit ice cream in bowls or cones. You can garnish with extra passion fruit pulp or lemon zest if desired.

And there you have it—your delicious passion fruit ice cream is ready to enjoy! Serve in individual glasses, decorate with mint leaves and a few drops of passion fruit sauce if you like. Enjoy this refreshing tropical dessert any time of the year!
