Choose a Healthy and Ripe Avocado Pit
The first step in growing an avocado tree is selecting a healthy, ripe pit. Ensure the avocado pit is intact, without any cracks or damage. You can also check its ripeness by gently shaking it; if the seed inside moves, it’s mature and ready for planting.
Remove the Shell from the Pit
Once you’ve chosen a healthy avocado pit, carefully remove the outer shell using a sharp knife. Take care not to damage the inner core.
Soak the Pit in Water
After removing the peel, soak the avocado pit in warm water for about an hour. This helps soften the inner layer and aids in germination.
Remove the Inner Layer
Once the inner layer is softened, gently peel it off with your fingers, being careful not to damage the embryo inside.
